Document Controller - Alaska Project Position
Overview Reporting to the Senior Project Services Manager, the Town-Based Document Controller provides project document control support to project personnel and serves as a key interface with contractor document control teams. This role is responsible for the care, custody, and control of compliance-managed project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
The position supports project execution by ensuring accurate document management, technical review coordination, document distribution, and maintenance of project records. The successful candidate will also demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and continuous process improvement.

Overview Reporting to the Senior Project Services Manager, the Town-Based Document Controller provides project document control support to project personnel and serves as a key interface with contractor document control teams. This role is responsible for the care, custody, and control of compliance-managed project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
The position supports project execution by ensuring accurate document management, technical review coordination, document distribution, and maintenance of project records. The successful candidate will also demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and continuous process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Support project document control processes in accordance with project requirements and industry best practices.
- Maintain the care, custody, and control of compliance-managed documents, including routing, publishing, distribution, printing, auditing, and storage.
- Administer and maintain electronic document management systems, including PIMS DCS and SharePoint.
- Coordinate technical reviews of documents and drawings, assign reviewers, track comments, and return finalized reviews to contractors.
- Manage and maintain Document Review and Approval Matrices (DRAM) and Document Distribution Matrices.
- Facilitate transmittals between project teams, contractors, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Review and process contractor and vendor deliverables for compliance with project requirements.
- Audit non-technical document content and resolve discrepancies with contractors as required.
- Monitor document control metrics and provide reporting support to project leadership.
- Provide escalation of document control issues when necessary to ensure timely resolution.
- Support ongoing development and improvement of document control procedures, templates, and work processes.
- Provide training, onboarding, and guidance to project and contractor personnel on document control requirements and systems.
- Act as a subject matter expert for document management systems and user support.
- Support document management interfaces between project execution teams and operations personnel.
- Attend project meetings, provide reporting inputs, and communicate document control status updates as needed.
- Adhere to all project safety and environmental requirements and actively participate in safety initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Library Science, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Minimum 3 years of Document Control or related experience within the oil and gas, energy, engineering, or construction industries.
- Experience managing engineering, construction, fabrication, vendor, as-built, turnover, and operations documentation.
- Strong understanding of document control requirements throughout project execution and operations phases.
- Experience with electronic document management systems, including PIMS DCS, SharePoint, or similar platforms.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, including knowing when to escalate issues.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service and stakeholder support.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including reporting and presentation capabilities.
